The mission of Mabel T. Caverly Senior Services is to provide social, recreational and/or emotional support to elderly persons in the Anchorage area.  Mabel T. Caverly Senior Services emphasizes seeking out individuals to join the membership who are elderly, frail, low income or from a minority classification. Its additional mission is to identify the needs of older persons, to plan and promote programs to meet those needs and to provide for a range of services that directly affect the well being of those who desire those services. UPDATE 15 MAY 2013

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR SEARCH

Members, Friends and Sponsors,

The Mabel T. Caverly Senior Center has a long history of successfully promoting the advocacy of senior citizens of Anchorage. It continues to amaze us of the number of events, programs, assisting seniors in need, and activities our dedicated staff and volunteers host and manage over the course of many years.

For the past 18 years, Mabel T. Caverly Executive Director, Sandy Camery has been instrumental to the success and growth of our Center.  Sandy’s commitment and dedication have ensured that Mabel T. Caverly is financially sustainable and operationally sound.  As the seasons change so do organizations, Sandy announced that she would be retiring from her position as Mabel T. Caverly’s Executive Director.

This was not an easy decision for Sandy, as she has dedicated nearly 2 decades of tremendous work and effort into progressing senior citizens’ concerns.  Sandy’s financial and operation leadership and tactful handling of the diverse and occasionally demanding groups of passionate people have been a great asset to the Center.  We are proud of her accomplishments as our Executive Director and excited for her as she transitions into retirement or other journeys. Sandy is planning on spending more time with family and relocating in the near future.

The Board of Directors will convene an executive search committee to recruit the next executive director. Sandy is committed to working with us through the transition process this year and I know she will be a great supporter of Mabel T. Caverly in the future from where ever she is. Please join me in thanking her for her many years of dedicated service and outstanding success leading our organization.
