The Mabel T. Caverly Senior Center DEAP Program benefits
seniors, age 55 and older, who are residents of the Municipality of Anchorage,
the Mat-Su Borough, or live on the Kenai Peninsula, and who do not have
insurance coverage for dental work, prescription eyeglasses, contact lenses,
prescription sunglasses, hearing aids, or prescription drugs.
ATTENTION!
- DEAP does not reimburse for covered expenses
incurred before an application has been approved.
- DEAP does not reimburse for covered expenses
for which the applicant already receives aid, such as a token
charge from a pharmaceutical manufacturer.
- DEAP does not reimburse the co-pay charge from
insurance or Medicaid.
- DEAP does not cover
prescription drugs for individuals who are age 65 or older unless you are in the Medicare Part D Donut-Hole.
- DEAP does not cover dental for Medicaid recipients.
The total amount available for those who qualify shall not exceed $300.00
in any one sixty day period.
The DEAP program provides qualifying individuals, ages 55 and over, a
micro-grant which is used as a reimbursement for the cost of
dental work, eyeglasses, hearing aids, or prescription drugs. An
applicant need not be a member of the Mabel T. Caverly Senior Center
to qualify for consideration for a micro-grant.
The following are the income limits:
- Single person's income does not exceed $1,900.00. (see note)
- Married couple's income does not exceed $2,150.00. (see note)
Note: Variances considered for extraordinary
circumstances.
Applicants must not qualify for any other assistance for the item for which they are applying.
Approved applicants will receive a notice containing a date span
during which time any of their expenses for dental work, eyeglasses,
hearing aids, or prescription drugs will be reimbursed up to $300.00
in total.
